Behind the Scenes: How I Guide Your Kitchen + Bath Selections

Kitchen and bath projects come with a lot of decisions.
Like...a lot.
Tile, paint colors, lighting, plumbing fixtures, vanities--every choice matters, and they all need to work together. And if you've never done it before, it's not always obvious how to make it all feel cohesive instead of pieced together.
That's the part I help with.
I'm not the one drawing up cabinetry plans, but I step in to guide all of the visual decisions so the space feels intentional, elevated, and aligned with the rest of your home. In this post, I'm breaking down what that actually looks like, so you can get a feel for the process and what it's like to work together.
Step One of K+B Selections: The Consultation

This service starts with a consulation. You walk me through your kitchen/bath spaces, noting things like how you function in each space. We also discuss your goals and vibes for the space. Along with taking notes, I'll take pictures and measurements to document your kitchen/bath.
Step Two of K+B Selections: The Proposal

After touring your space and hearing about your goals and vision, I create a proposal for you. This outlines the scope of the project and the design deliverables you will receive as part of the service. This document also includes my design fees.
If you decide to move forward with this service, I'll have you sign an acceptance of the proposal and my letter of agreement. It's important to me that we are both on the same page moving forward with the project. Both the proposal and letter of agreement set clear expectations for working together.
Step Three of K+B Selections: The Design Concept
Now comes the fun part! Once you sign the proposal and letter of agreement, that kicks off the design phase. This is when I start selecting everything you need for your kitchen/bath. I create vision boards, renderings, and collect samples for tile + finishes. I also create renderings so you can see a model for what the kitchen/bath would look like put together. All items are put into a shopping list with links, so that you or your contractor can make purchases. This is very different from how I run my full service decorating (where I make all of the purchases)!
Step Four of K+B Selections: The Presentation
Once the design concept is complete, I schedule an in person design presentation meeting with you. I show you the vision boards, renderings, and material samples. You'll see the digital pieces alongside the samples layered so you can envision everything before you commit to the selections.
Step Five of K+B Selections: The Edits
My K+B Selections service includes one round of edits. Meaning, if there's something you didn't like, we can swap it out so that the design is exactly how you want it. This process takes one to two weeks, then I send you a final copy of the design with the shopping list. This gives both you and your contractor a document to refer to throughout your renovation.
Step Six of K+B Selections: The Photos
If you're doing multiple kitchen/bath projects with me, or even a larger (singular) project, I will likely have professional photos taken of the completed project. It's always fun seeing the project go from vision board and renderings to real life.
Good spaces don't happen by accident. They come from thoughtful decisions that connect. That's what this process is about: creating something that feels cohesive, like it belongs. If you already have the technical side covered but want help bringing the visual direction into focus, this is exactly where I come in.
